BEHIND THE LENS
Residing in North Bay, Shannon Lucas is a graduate of Canadore College's class of 2013 Television Broadcasting and Video Production Program.
He has been able to further his all around production skills from pre-production, through camera operation to final editing by working as a freelance videographer. Shannon considers himself to be quite fortunate to be working frequently alongside his mentor, and once editing professor, Jordan Presseault.
Shannon has found himself shooting private affairs with football great Andy Fantuz, and even shaking hands with the Dragon's Den's own Kevin O'Leary while on shoots with his mentor. Growing upon his mentorship, Shannon has been able to Partner with Jordan and retain him on his own projects, and so the ball bounces. Shannon hopes to always maintain this relationship and in turn mentor others himself.
Outside of his partnership, Shannon takes on projects of his own with every bit of as much passion as the next. He directed, shot and cut a piece that helped his client achieve it's $25,000 Kickstarter fundraising goals. Shannon has managed to connect and work with other talents in this field. From camera operators, to sound engineers, to advanced graphic animators, his connections enable him to crew and successfully finish productions in a timely fashion.
Not seen here, is the work Shannon has done as camera operator only where duties included the shooting, directing and then final delivery of footage. He has done so for feature film as EPK (behind the scenes) and fortune 500 companies. He also has done editing only work and has been hired to do individual edit tutoring.
Photography is also a passion of his. While only a small preview, every photo on this site was captured by Shannon (save the photo on this page, courtesy Jordan Presseault). Some of his photos have appeared in magazines, CBC websites and on the walls of homes and business establishments. He considers himself fortunate to be part of a great photo community and often collaborates within it.
The thing Shannon loves most about his craft is the storytelling. To quote Yura Monestime, his once lead professor at college, "the magic is in the edit".
"We recently hired Shannon to do Videography for our Kickstarter startup. I can honestly say that he went above and beyond. Not only was he professional, but he brought great ideas to the table. He had a huge hand in making our project a success! This would not have happened without his eye for detail, his thoroughness of knowing and delivering exactly what the customer wants and in a timely manner to boot (we had tight deadlines)..."
